18 Bandidos Bikers Charged After Kwinana Freeway Incident in Perth's Southern Suburbs
In a dramatic turn of events, 18 patched members of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) have been charged by police following a high-speed chase and roadblock on the Kwinana Freeway in Perth's southern suburbs. The incident unfolded on Friday evening, January 17, 2026, causing significant disruption to traffic.
The story began when police received a tip-off about a large group of Bandidos riders gathering at a petrol station on Safety Bay Road around 5:25 pm. The police statement revealed that significant resources, including the Police Air Wing, were dispatched to the scene.
The police observed the group riding recklessly in a convoy, traveling north on the Kwinana Freeway at an excessive speed. When officers attempted to intercept them by activating lights and sirens, the riders allegedly failed to stop and continued their rapid journey.
In a bold move, two of the riders blocked the police vehicles, prompting the rest of the group to ride on. However, the police strategically stopped traffic on the freeway near Millar Road in Baldivis, forcing the group to halt and causing significant traffic congestion.
The authorities arrested 18 men, aged between 26 and 56, and seized their motorcycles. Gang Crime Squad detectives charged all 18 with reckless driving to escape police pursuit and failing to comply with a direction to stop. Two of the men, aged 41 and 44, were additionally charged with obstructing public officers.
The men are expected to appear in court between January 28 and February 9, 2026, facing the consequences of their actions on the Kwinana Freeway that evening.
This incident highlights the potential dangers of reckless motorcycle riding and the importance of law enforcement efforts to ensure public safety on our roads.
