A Pair of Electric SUVs and a Sedan: The Ocean Lineup Expands
BYD's Ocean lineup is set to welcome two new members in the first quarter of 2026. The first teaser images were released during Ocean Day, revealing the names of these upcoming models: the Seal 08 Sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV. These vehicles are poised to become the most premium offerings in the Ocean series, showcasing BYD's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric mobility.
High-End Design and Performance
While specific details like prices and final specifications remain under wraps, the latest images offer a glimpse into the luxurious nature of these vehicles. The Sealion 08 SUV, in particular, bears a striking resemblance to a Range Rover, with a design inspired by BYD's luxury sub-brand, Denza N8L. This SUV is expected to be larger than the Tesla Model Y, with dimensions of 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, 1,620 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.
The Seal 08 Sedan, on the other hand, will surpass the Seal 06 EV in size. The Seal 06 EV measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, making the Seal 08 a more substantial and luxurious sedan.
Expanding the Dynasty Lineup: The Tang 9 and Han 9
BYD is also expanding its Dynasty sub-brand with the introduction of the Tang 9 SUV and the Han 9 Sedan. These vehicles are set to make their official debut in the first half of 2026, with a camouflaged Tang 9 spotted in China earlier this month. The Tang 9, a full-size SUV with three rows of seating, will be equipped with BYD's advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and other premium features, including a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
The Tang 9 is expected to be priced in the 200,000-300,000 yuan ($28,700- $43,000) range, positioning it as an entry-level luxury SUV. This move sets the tone for the luxury segment, as BYD aims to widen the gap in the EV market.
BYD's Dominance in the EV Market
In 2025, BYD sold over 2.25 million all-electric vehicles, surpassing Tesla by more than 600,000 units. With the introduction of these new flagship EVs, electric supercars, luxury models, pickup trucks, compact SUVs, executive sedans, and more, BYD is poised to continue its dominance in the EV market in 2026. The company's commitment to innovation and bold advancements is evident, as they prepare to usher in a new era of electric mobility.
