In July 2024, they set off on their adventure, with a plan to live and explore three diverse locations: Japan, the US, and the Netherlands. Each stop offered a unique experience, from immersing themselves in an unfamiliar culture in Tsukuba, Japan, to reconnecting with family roots in Great Neck, New York, and embracing a bike-centric lifestyle in Leiden, Netherlands.
The logistics were challenging, especially securing legal residency to enroll their daughters in local schools. But the effort paid off, providing the family with a rare opportunity to bond and create lasting memories.
And this is the part most people miss... Living out of backpacks forced them to embrace minimalism, a liberating experience that freed their minds and allowed them to focus on the present moment.
Parenting on the road had its challenges. Their youngest daughter initially struggled with the idea of leaving her familiar life behind, but the promise of exciting adventures and the reassurance of a stable home base helped ease her worries.
