The cooperative's success is attributed to a combination of factors. Firstly, the mild temperatures during that month reduced the demand for certain power sources, allowing Holy Cross to optimize its renewable energy generation. Secondly, the cooperative's strategic investments in major solar farms played a pivotal role. These farms capitalized on the favorable weather conditions, contributing significantly to the overall clean energy production.
This accomplishment builds upon Holy Cross Energy's previous commitment to sustainability. Last year, they announced their goal of achieving 96% solar and wind power by May 2025, and now, they've surpassed expectations with their 2026 carbon-neutral milestone. The cooperative's ambitious "100x30" goal, aiming for 100% clean energy by 2030, seems well within reach.
